This book is about my mother, Martha Bowen. She requested that I write a book about her life. It’s a fictionalized account of real-life events that has shaped her into the woman she is today. At the time I was capturing her stories, unbeknownst to us, she was struggling with memory loss. Not too long after that, she was diagnosed with Dementia. Dementia is a condition characterized by persistent or progressive loss of intellectual functioning. The disease impairs memory and abstract thinking, while often changing personality traits resulting from organic disease of the brain. My story within this book entails what people and their loved ones experience going through this disease, which has been so widespread among our elderly community. My hope is that while you enjoy her stories, you become aware and educated on the disease and how it affections families, patients and society. Also, please remember how important it is to listen and capture your loved one’s stories as their legacy for generations to come.

I’ve created a space for you to share your caretaker experiences and stories. Feel free to send your stories to lilliebowen65@gmail.com for a chance to win a free copy of my next book, as well as be featured on my social media and website! We are all in this together!
